New Delhi: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut shared a post on social media after the Delhi Assembly’s Committee on Peace and Harmony summoned her to appear before it on December 6 over her ‘hateful’ post. The committee on Thursday (November 25) issued a notice to the ‘Manikarnika’ actress after receiving complaints against her ‘derogatory’ and ‘offensive’ post in which she allegedly labelled farmers protesting against the farm laws as ‘Khalistani terrorists’, according to a report in IANS.
What Did Kangana Ranaut Post?
The 34-year-old, who was last seen in ‘Thalaivii’, shared a new post on her Instagram story and said that she didn’t mention Sikhs in her previous post. The ‘Judgemental Hai Kya’ star shared a screenshot of her old post and ANI’s tweet and wrote, “Is Kejriwal’s AAP referring all Sikhs as Khalistanis?”
For the unversed, Ranaut mentioned Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party as the Delhi Assembly’s Committee on Peace and Harmony is headed by AAP leader Raghav Chadha.
The summon document, which issued by the committe, said that Kangana’s post has the potential to endanger the harmony and cause humiliation to the Sikh community.
“Pertinently, the committee has received numerous complaints eliciting inter alia, outrageously offensive and derogatory Instagram stories/posts allegedly published by yourself (Kangana Ranaut) over your official Instagarm Account against the ‘Sikh Community’ by blanketly labelling them as ‘Khalistani Terrorists’ through the purportedly deliberate references and imputations made in the said stories/posts, thus depicting the entire Sikh community in a very bad light, which as per the complaints, has the potential to endanger harmony as well as cause wounding humiliation to the entire Sikh community,” the committee said in its summon as quoted as saying by IANS.
Kangana Ranaut has remained in headlines, courtesy her controversial statements on social media. She stirred up a hornet’s nest when she said that ‘India got its real freedom in 2014’. Her comments didn’t go down well with several political leaders including BJP’s Varun Gandhi. The ‘Panga’ star also faced flak for allegedly making a defamatory remark on Mahatma Gandhi.
